Sweet Little Prayers

Weeks 25-26 “A Hymn of Thanks”
Lord, that made the earth and air,
We thank Thee for the morning light,
Thank Thee for the loving care
That guards Thy children thru the night.
Father dear, we sing to Thee,
Who taught the woodland birds their song;
God, who made the sky and sea,
Pray keep Thy children all from wrong.
(by Charles Ellerton)

Weeks 22-24 “Morning Hymn 2”
Dear Father, hear the thanks that we bring
For morning aglow in the sky,
For sun and shadow, birds on the wing,
and moss where the river flows by.
For silver dew all fresh on the grass,
For springs trickling clear on the hill,
For graceful ferns which wave as we pass,
For morning all golden and still.
(by Knapp/Gardner)

Weeks 19-21 “We Thank Thee”
For flowers that bloom about our feet,
Father, we thank Thee;
For tender grass so fresh, so sweet,
Father, we thank Thee;
For song of bird and hum of bee,
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.
(by Ralph W. Emerson)

Weeks 16-18 “Praise to God for Things We See”
Praise to God for things we see,
Growing flower and waving tree,
Mother’s face, the bright blue sky,
Birds and clouds that float on high,
Praise to God for things we see,
Praise to God for seeing.
Praise to God for things we hear,
Voices of our playmates dear,
Merry bells, the songs of birds,
Stories, tunes and kindly words,
Praise to God for things we hear,
Praise to God for hearing.

Weeks 15-17
Thank you for the world so sweet,
Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the birds that sing,
Thank you Lord for everything!

Weeks 13-14: “Sing to God”
Sing to God in Joyful voice,
In His loving hand rejoice.
Earth and sky alike proclaim
Praises to His holy name.
He who guides the swallow’s flight
Will not lose thee from His sight;
All thy trust in Him confide,
Ever in His love abide.
(by Virginia C. Murdock)

Weeks 10-12: “Morning Prayer”
For flowers that bloom about our feet,
For tender grass so fresh and sweet;
For song of bird and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear and see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.
For this new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter through the night;
For health and food, for love and friends;
For everything Thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.

Weeks 7-9: “And God Said”
And God said the sun should shine,
The rain should fall, the flowers should grow,
And God said the birds should sing, And it was so, was so.
And God said the grass should grow,
The trees bear fruit, the winds should blow,
And God said that streams should flow, And it was so, was so.

Weeks 4-6: “God’s Love”
Oh, let the children everywhere
Each morning bow their heads in prayer,
And ask that God may with them stay,
And Keep them safely through the day.
For even children understand
That God, who keeps with loving hand
Each little bird, each blossom fair,
Will keep His children everywhere.

Weeks 1-3: “Lord, Teach a Child”
Lord, teach a little child to pray, And then accept my prayer!
Thou hearest every word I say, For Thou art everywhere.
A little sparrow cannot fall, Unnoticed, Lord, by Thee;
And though I am so young and small Thou dost take care of me.
